[ARCHIVED] Water Tower Logo Options

Due to irresponsible and nonfactual information about the Aransas Pass Water tower Logo, I will

personally address questions and concerns circulating on Facebook. On March 15, 2018 a Water Tower

Logo Voting Poll was published on the city website, Facebook, and on a paper ballot. Two city designs

and two panther/school mascot designs were displayed as voting options. April 7, 2018 the votes were

tallied: Black panther-286 votes, Harbor City-204 votes, City of AP-149 votes, and Gold Panther-54 votes.

These results gave a city logo 353 combined votes and panther/school mascot 340 votes. FEMA

obligated funding for the water tower on November 15, 2018. Finally, after months of delays,

construction began on September 5, 2019. The Landmark construction supervisor shared with the

council at the August 26, 2019 meeting that the four original designs exceeded the design budget. With

this new information and after many discussions regarding the location of the tower and city branding,

the council unanimously chose a redfish design. During the September 3, 2019 council meeting, 3

redfish designs were presented and again the construction supervisor pointed out two designs were

above budget. At that time council agreed on the redfish outline that was covered by FEMA. We were

told at that meeting to continue logo design would delay the completion date. The city is getting a cost

estimate to replace the old faded city logo on the large water storage tank on Avenue A near the High

School. The new logo will be the AP official Panther with wording. This location is seen daily by

hundreds of students, parents and visiting teams. Ingleside and GP have city logos on their water

towers, while Rockport and PA have school mascots. Aransas Pass will have both.
